Nathan
Tight
(AD Dance, Dip Yoga
Teaching IYTA)
Nathan has been practicing yoga since childhood, completed his yoga
teacher training in 2000, and is Co-Director of Core Yoga Studios
with
his wife Chanthalah. Since then, Nathan has a long-standing history
with many of the prominent health and wellbeing clubs throughout
Brisbane. He teaches classes and workshops regularly for them and at
the studio, and manages Core Yoga Studios in West End. In 2006, he and
Chanthalah took their flowing, practical, and informative yoga style to
Scotland, where it was received with enthusiasm.
Nathan
is a part-time lecturer for Creative
Industries in the Dance department
at QUT Kelvin Grove, having presented yoga for the Intensive
Training
Programs for the past 6 years. His dance background has continued to
shape and develop Nathan’s focus, which is particularly
centered on his extensive knowledge of the working body in motion
within the modalities of dance and yoga. He presents classes
with a clear understanding of anatomy and core alignment that are
integral in safe, flowing movement. His classes combine a strong
approach to both static asana and dynamic vinyasa sequencing,
empowering students with knowledge to intuitively modify postures as it
individually suits them, and in turn provides students with a
stimulating approach to learning yoga. Nathan’s
guided relaxations are in great demand by students!
Nathan
has experience in the visual and performing arts. His insightful
choreographic crafting of movement has led him to work with
Rock’n’Roll Circus Brisbane (now Circa), and
Brisbane Youth Services. Her Majesty herself at the opening of CHOGM
(The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting) 2002 in Coolum has also
seen Nathan’s choreography, where he worked with indigenous
artists from the Aboriginal Centre for performing Arts (ACPA).
